What's Tin disulfide?
Tin disulfide is an organic compound with chemical formula SnS2. It is an orange hexagonal flake with an CdI2 Crystal structure. It is hardly soluble in water, but it's solubilized in aqua regia or hot alkaline solutions, and as well in sodium sulfide Solution, often used as golden paint.
Tin disulfide is insoluble in aqua regia as well as hot alkali solution. It can undergo coordination reaction when combined with concentrated hydrochloric acid. However, it's impermeable to dilute acid but insoluble in water and nitric acid. It is also capable of resolving with ammonium sulfur to dissolve.
How to prepare the tin disulfide?
Tin disulfide may be obtained by combining directly tin with sulfur in the presence of Iodine. The reaction requires heat:
Sn + 2 S --- SnS2
Another method is to put hydrogen sulfide into the solution of either tin (IV) salt , or into the tin (IV) salt solution, and then form a precipitate.
Electrochemical properties of multi-walled carbon-carbon nanotubes in to tin disulfide as the negative electrodes of lithium-ion battery
The direct current arc plasma technique was used to create multi-walled carbon nanotube-confined metal Nanostructures (Sn@MWCNT) as an intermediate in a methane atmospheric environment. Then SnS_2@MWCNT was obtained by their sulfurization reactions. The results of the physical characterization of the materials, such as Raman, X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Transmission electron Microscopy (TEM) showed that the length of multi-walled carbon nanotubes was around 400nm. The carbon layer on the surface was well crystallized it was thicker than the surrounding carbon, approximately 10 nanometers. Lithium-ion batteries made of Sn S2@MWCNT nanostructures as anode materials show relatively good electrochemical performance. The first charge-discharge Coulomb efficacy is 71%, following 50 cycles, this capacity has remained at 703 mAh?g-1. The high-capacity properties of SnS_2@MWCNT nanostructured electrodes come from the fact that different types of active substances provide the capacity , as well as the reaction platform of each material is unique to each material.
Study on electrochemical performance of tin disulfide/single-walled carbon nanotube composite material used as anode material for lithium-ion battery
A new composite material composed of SnS2 along with carbon nanotubes that are single-walled (SWCNTs) has been prepared using an easy solvothermal technique. It is found to have excellent electrochemical characteristics after being put on to negative electrode of the lithium Ion batteries. At a very high current density of 1 A/g, even after 100 cycles, it has a reversible specific power of about 510 mAh/g. In order to compare, we applied the same technique to make one SnS2 material and then conduct electrical tests with it. The results show that even though the initial capacity of the SnS2 material is excellent, the cycle efficiency is weak, and it decays quickly after less than 20 cycles. The superior performance of this composite material in lithium-ion batteries is believed to be due to its synergy with the two component that comprise SnS2 along with SWCNTs.
